Baker/Decorator

 
 

The Hive Cake Studio is looking for a reliable and hard-working baker/decorator to join our team.

 

The baker/decorator will assist in preparing The Hive’s fresh retail products including cakes, cupcakes, cookies, bars, and other seasonal items. Products must hold to a consistent high standard of flavor and aesthetic set by the lead baker and owner.

 

The right candidate will love to bake, have experience baking in a professional kitchen, possess acute attention to detail, work well in an inspired, yet deadline-driven environment, and have a desire to learn. We are looking for someone happy, flexible, reliable, and even-tempered, who enjoys working with others. Pastry school credentials are preferred, but not required.

 

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

-Daily bake-offs for retail FOH needs as well as special orders (includes cupcake and cake decorating)

-Assist in production of batters, buttercreams, doughs, fillings, etc. from scratch by correctly following recipes provided

-Keep on top of production schedule

-Communicate when equipment needs servicing and ingredients are low

-Ensure product quality and consistency

-Help clean and maintain kitchen in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines, following daily cleaning duties

-Ensure all food inventory is properly stored, labeled, and dated

 

Qualifications:

-Willingness and capability to work early mornings, one weekend day, and other hours as needed

-Excellent communication skills, attendance, and punctuality

-Strong work ethic and can-do attitude with a love of learning

-Ability to lift 50+ pounds

-A sense of humor!
